About
I'm Simon Slooten. I live just outside of Rotterdam in Holland.
I have been spending the last 27 years in the IT industry, delivering training and doing consultancy & software development.
I started in 1984 as a programmer on DEC PDP and VAX computers (programming in a beautiful programming language named Dibol) for a company named Minihouse (later renamed to Multihouse). I left the company as an Information Analist in 1991.
After spending a year as a scuba diving instructor in the Caribbean, I founded Prisma IT in 1992.
Since 1995 Prisma IT has been an Allaire and then Macromedia and now Adobe Authorized Training Partner and Silver Solution Partner.
I've been working with ColdFusion since 1995 and I believe it still is among the most beautiful and powerful programming languages out there. I have been doing Flex (and AIR) since the Beta of version 1.0 (was that in 2000?) (it is almost as beautiful as CF) and I have been doing LiveCycle training and consultancy since 2006.
Since 1997 I have been one of Adobe's Certified Master Instructors.
I am a co-author of the official Adobe Training Curriculum for ColdFusion (8 & 9), Flex (2 & 3) and LiveCycle (ES).
Since 2003 we have also been focussing on Web Analytics and Marketing Intelligence. In 2007 we launched a new company named iMetrix. iMetrix is a Webtrends Consulting and Training Partner and a TeaLeaf partner.
My main (professional) focus (apart form keeping the companies going) is training, consultancy and software lifecycle management. My main private focus is .. private.
Please remember that whatever I end up posting here are my thoughts and my thoughts only, not my company's thoughts and most certainly not anyone else's or any other company's thoughts.
